JAKOB OLAUSSON / THE HORSE LOOM / THE FAMILY ELAN
Jakob Olausson is best known, if at all, for his sub-radar activities with Sweden’s Joshua Jugband 5. His first solo LP, Moonlight Farm is one of the most beautifully nocturnal and disconcertingly intimate broadcasts to make it out of the heart of the wood since Joshua’s Gold Cosmos. The overall atmosphere has the same kind of early electric feel as MV’s Maximum Arousal recordings, while Olausson’s evocatively double-tracked vocals move from a weighted down Skip Spence/Ben Chasny hybrid to a pro-denim and leather Leonard Cohen (or does that make him Jim Morrison?). His songs cross endless tranced dirges with drones that are so lunar they illuminate the entire horizon and huge distorto-smears of backing vox that sound like tiny fists crushing the light from stars. Some of the instrumentals here are so evocatively conceived – beautifully reconciling handmade DIY traditions and higher-minded bliss – that they sound positively Japanese, with a track like “The Wind Combs Her Hair” almost passing for early Ché-SHIZU. But it’s the songs you’ll keep coming back too, elegiac teleports to the fringes of a whole other evocatively conceived universe, where every breath births reverberant shadows and the map of yr desires reads like a mirror of the constellations. From one loner to another, this is everything that the phrase ‘private press’ conjures up and more. A modern classic. Comes with full-colour stuck on cover in the patented De Stijl manner. Limited to 800 copies and already sold out at source. Highest recommendation." -David Keenan - Volcanic Tongue. / The Family Elan: Glasgow 8-piece playing progressive folk, trance.

HYENA / EGG IN A TREE / MUMMY SHORT ARMS / EYE CONTACT LEADS TO...
This promises to be an electrifying event with the eclectic tastes of all four bands combining to make one sweet musical pie. Hyena, a raging 4-piece from Glasgow combine just the right amount of raw passion and rock finesse to keep them on the edge of combustion, but will they explode? With a unique sound influenced by the likes of shellac, dinosaur jr, and biffy clyro, hyena are "definitely one to watch out for"- rockmidgets.com. Egg In A Tree combine their full on, maximum power vocals with a rock/blues drive that gives them a sound as distinctive as their name. Mummy Shortarms, like to scream, dance, and make love to the crowd by thrusting their big sound right in there. They sound a bit like the Pixies, a bit like Captain Beefheart Junior, but mostly they sound like Mummy Shortarms. And the icing on this harmonious cake, eye contact leads too…, will make your head thrash and your hips sway like you never knew they could. Yummy.

Valentine's Benefit Gig -'Have a Heart for Animals': ROGUESTAR / ALMA FIERA
Roguestar are a hardworking and professional act, who has now achieved over 150 gigs around the UK. They play a modern and melodical form of British metal blended with the newer American sounds of today’s rock music. Although their songs have become more riff driven and heavier in the last 12 months they still retain a great element of commercialism. Add the driving force and endless energy of frontman Brian Carral, and you have the Roguestar sound. Despite working without a full time manger Roguestar are reliable and well organized. So far the band have dedicated most of their time and effort towards improving their live performances, and carving out opportunities to play at the many pub and club gigs across Scotland Stormtroopers, War, Cyborgs traveling through time to destroy corporate music labels, Invisible Men, the future of MTV, and the hopelessness of lifes many certainties are just some of the subjects covered by a set of guys, whose writing skills, are growing with every track. The bands influences are listed as Metallica, Iron Maiden, the Doors, Slayer, RATM, SOAD, David Bowie, Frank Zappa, and the Dead Kennedy’s to name a few Roguestar recently supported rising hillbilly rock stars “Hayseed Dixie “on 4 UK dates, to help the band launch their single “Ace of Spades “in the UK. It was a great success with every show selling out. Prior to this Roguestar the released their own debut single Who You Want to Be, by Decival Records the bands own label, formed after an Edinburgh Financial company invested a substantial amount of cash into the band. Allowing them to release their debut effort, and equipping them to tour Scotland and promote the CD. The band has appeared on Forth FM, Fresh Fm, and Radio Borders. They also made a cable TV appearance on Lanarkshire TV. Playing live remains at the top of the bands agenda though, and they are currently playing the Bikers festival circuit in Scotland, playing in front of crowds from anywhere between 300 – 1000. As a four piece they have been recording and touring ever since. Twice". / Y'All is Fantasy Island: Y'all is Fantasy Island hail from Falkirk, Adam Stafford is the singer and songwriter behind Y'all is Fantasy Island. He is a prodigious 23 year old and has been writing songs and playing guitar since the tender age of 14, but it is only in the last few years that he has matured into a powerful and emotive songwriter and performer capable of knocking audiences dead with only a battered 30 quid classical guitar and a voice too old to old be coming out of his scrawny frame. He is influenced by everything from raw, early bluesmen and folk music to ambient electronica and heavy metal. It could be said his sound is a distillation of all of the above and more. Drive Carefully Records presents: ROMAN REVUTSKY (russia) (pictured) / IAMCHEMIST (pictured) / THE KARA SEA (pictured) / + Drive Carefully DJs
Drive Carefully launch their first non-sampler release with a split EP, building bridges vol 1 featuring The Kara Sea and Roman Revutsky. At the tender age of 22, Sarah Bradley, the lady behind The Kara Sea, finds herself with the surprising tag of industry veteran. However, a quick look at her CV soon puts any surprise to bed. Her latest project is thrown in amongst past exploits which include promoting, DJing and running a record label as well as her songwriting exploits. The metamorphosis of Bradley from Eskimo Girl into The Kara Sea is indicative of the maturity and finesse evident in her music. Rigid drum and synth beats complement the swirling melodies and poetic, sensitive vocals to make The Kara Sea a unique adventure in music. No longer an Eskimo Girl; the ice has melted and The Kara Sea is flowing. Russian artist Roman Revutsky has a borderline pop sensibility inhabiting domains of both rock and electronica belonging to neither. A singer and a songwriter, he is expressly not a "singer/songwriter", a case of a sum at odds with its parts. An experimentalist with no time to experiment, what RR has to offer is sonic storytelling spiked with subzero man-machine spleen and sweet psycho delivery, with all songs adding up to a hypnotizing narrative of uncommon lyrical power. The bill is completed by iamchemist, one man with his keytar who'll take your favourite songs and wonderfully mutilate them beyond all recognition into distort-fest electro-pop ditties. iamchemist has been slowly growing in stature, to both critical acclaim, and also to horror and fright. Armed with nothing but his keytar, a sense of occasion, and a truly remarkable affinity for the greater pleasures in life, 2007 promises to be a good year for iamchemist. Doors 9.00pm / £4

Daedelus: "his music vibrates with 21st century invention." [Q]. Daedelus, the eccentric, electronic maestro of the pacific coast returns to glasgow for a very special intimate show at miso. one of la's most daring new artists this young musical romantic weaves together a true "love-sound" that falls between honeyed melody and avant-electronics. daedelus chops and splices disparate acoustic sources into incredible works of staggering resonance. contrasting electronica styled cut-ups with childlike arrangements from the 30's and 40's, he has refined a style that has no imitators. exactly the kind of music you’d expect from a scarily well-connected hip hop nut who happens to dress in edwardian clothing and names himself after an ancient greek legend. with a string of releases on ninja tune, mush, plug research, hefty, tigerbeat 6, and eastern developments, daedelus (aka alfred-weisberg-roberts) has refined a style that has no imitators. recording out of santa monica, daedelus also incorporates hip-hop into his mix, with guest spots from busdriver, mf doom, absract rude, madlib, and high priest (anti-pop consortium) amongst others. his live show, which utilizes a custom-built sample trigger device and software package, has amazed audiences across the us, europe, and japan and secured his reputation as an incredibly exciting live artists and producer of electronic music. praise for daedelus… "fabulously eclectic in styling and moods… uncannily dreamlike and resonant." [mojo] / "a feast of many different favours from one of ninja tune's finest." [spill] / "words aren't wholly appropriate. only repeated listens will do daedelus justice." [rock sound 8/10] / "the addictive avant-garde splice-maestro turns the music world on its head as past and present sounds magically meld into the future. witty, endearing and alternative… 21st century mood music." [flux] / "daedelus remains one of the outstanding producers out there right now, every track fizzes with ideas, pushing hip-hops parameters beyond their outer limits. dazzling." [fact] / "daedelus twists, cuts and flips samba rhythms and acid bursts into an intoxicating brew. bleeping good." [dazed and confused]. / Ochre aka chris leary, first came to the public's attention via his album for toytronic in 2004 entitled "a midsummer nice dream".  during that time and up until autumn 2005, he has offered a steady output of remix work and compilation appearances via the likes of subvariant, boltfish, audiobulb, igloo and unschooled. ochre's take on the electronic format takes the medium to its melodic limit, with an orchestral feel and precision that would challenge the best contemporary traditional composers. rather than pushing the noise envelope via the technology available, ochre expertly demonstrates that the most complex of compositions can be realised in a human and organic way via technology. £6 from www.ticketweb.co.uk 08700 600 100

We've put out 1 LP "Love" on Track And Field in 2004. We've also put out several singles and have done a few radio sessions including a live broadcast from Peel Acres on Valentine's Day 2002. Yeah...look impressed. "Xs And Os" is out now! See the reviews for it in our blog and see the video (directed by Ryan Owen) below this... The new LP "Technicolour" will be out on Feb '07." / Joe Kane joins the night with his band the Idiots Against Time. "Worn out from 4 years on the road with The Owsley Sunshine, founder member/producer Joe Kane might be forgiven for sitting at home and resting on his laurels. Sit at home he did - but always in reach of a guitar, a mixing desk & something to bang. And thus was born his solo project, Only Joe Kane. With the Owsleys evolving into more of a collective than a band, Joe began crafting something all of his own, an album of his most personal material yet, intimate, but still delivering the depth & opulence of instrumentation that has always marked out his work. An album, Joe says, of, "compressed pianos, ramshackle roomy drums, overdriven acoustic guitar riffs doubling the bass part, busted transistor organ, wooshing synth walls & found sounds, keeping the accidents in, sound on sound, overdubbed tom rolls, sellotaped spaghetti for brushes, retard nashville guitarlicks, dub tape echo in pop, fake mellotrons, knee percussion, clavioline counter melodies, silly panning compressed pianos, ramshackle roomy drums, overdriven acoustic guitar riffs doubling the bass part, busted transistor organ, wooshing synth walls & found sounds, keeping the accidents in, sound on sound, overdubbed tom rolls, sellotaped spaghetti for brushes, retard nashville guitarlicks, dub tape echo in pop, fake mellotrons, knee percussion, clavioline counter melodies, silly panning...."
