Beyond Good & Evil presents: HOTEL, HOTEL (usa) / D. ABRAHAM TURNER / LANTERNS (pictured)
A night of noise, drones and unrelenting freeness... This is the essence of possession. Hotel, Hotel travel miles from Texas with a beatific look of horror on their faces for they were there when the meteor hit the church, the living offspring of an angel and a devil lodged in the brain causing microblink switches between blinding white light and suffocating black antimatter. Using instruments to communicate the realisation of simultaneous on and off. String theory strung along strummed the guitar and turned it on. Cataclysm. Lanterns in the dustcloud short moments followed. A microphone over the typewriter in the Overlook. All work and no play makes Mark a dull boy, so this... this is about playing in the dimly swinging lights over the maze as we stagger through. Oboe notes honk low in the snow. Warm bath of stars? No-one complained. Candelabra fabricated in the sweet hereafter as it drained. Improvisational music is sensational. Inspiration and an exhalation of elation in our relationships... It was all love! But my scream of affirmation was a whisper from parched lips, neck barely straining from the pillow. Hooo... Sunburned hand of the man patiently mops my fever'd brow because whenever I hear this stuff I get uplifted and the whites of my eyes show. It makes my head revolve. Like D. Abraham Turner, another point of light in this crystalline structure of exquisite intangibility, scrunchie reminder of the unlikely strength of hair from the lady of your life in your pocket as you reached to hand in your knife like a good boy. There, there. A sponge on the oils removing lines between disillusion and that illusion. Beautiful results cut & pasted from my diary. It would be churlish not to let go. £3. Doors 9pm

Grundioso Records Night: ST DELUXE
(pictured)/ LIKE A STUNTMAN
Brand new Richard Linklater movie set in Lanarkshire somewhere, starts off with a guy, Stan Places, ambling along the pavement kicking a hackeysack with scuffed trainers, talking on his mobile to German exchange student friend about no-brainer presidential non-sequiturs, he says he feels like he's constantly dreaming. He steps off the kerb and his heels leave the ground and off he floats like a stuntman. With a swoosh of spacey synths, towards the distant light to which the blessed St Deluxe strove to reach, with yearning mantras and softly insistent guitarosaur chug familiar to those for whom 'oomalama' was a four syllable magic word to get you out of suburban tedium and quotidian disillusionment on your way to school, work, wherever, again. Extremely laid back pair of bands making music that you think is retreading old ideas but ping there's a carriage return and suddenly the cartoon of something remembered resolves to actually become a reality disorientingly dense with abstract symbols and sound allusion and allegories of politics. Dig for they gave me back my urge to stretch words like clingfilm over stuff to keep it as it was when it first manifested.

Vialka come from Earth and make a concerted effort to realise their own obsessions on why monkeys elaborate systems which demonkeyfy them so extensively, draw pencil lines in the ground around them and bite anyone who tries to come over to jump about a bit. So they jump about all over and make millions of likeminded friends and make funny looping scat guitar and expansive drums and call and response Brecht cabaret alternating with ridiculous extemporised howly warble melismatic holy water flowing screaming from the mouth expression of frustration at essentially ground limited simian with mental capacity defying mere corporeal form. I told you so. The fantastically named Dananananackroyd, the guitar from 'How soon is now playing every time he opens his mouth, new X-men power to make up for all those shit films he was in after Ghostbusters and not including Grosse Pointe Blank, which is surely enough? This is the kind of evolution we could really be enjoying. 'All nations are hallucinations.' When freedom exists, I will be in a state.

THE WHISKY WORKS (pictured)
/ ERIC EUAN(pictured) / GDANSK / CRUX WEAVER
An evening of post-hardcore noise pop, off kilter rhythms & dangerous hints of melody from Glasgow & Aberdeen with a fantastic array of jock rocking beats tonight, including The Whisky Works - doesn't it, though? - who provide this 'Dave for the moment', fabulous ego projection of me right now as I type. Soaring post-something or other, big flanged guitar choruses and harmonising vcals. Eric Euan, I have said time and again, are pure splendour from the land of the Dandy Don, whose tunes totally get me taxi jiving every time. Extra new to me numbers on myspace illustrate the same swoops of guitars backchatting each other and colliding vocals folk intricate I so deeply dug prior, with the foot marginally off the accelerator with no loss of momentum. I like, you like, mmmm. Even less accelerated but nonetheless dynamic - shipyard allusions, final remaining boat makers sadly seeing off their product - Gdansk fly the Weegie flag, and advocate singing lugubriously while putting the boot through the screen showing the dismal juxtaposing of economic prospects and life after the earthquake and collapsing to the sofa to gaze disgruntled at the lamp in the corner of the room instead. Opopemoscreamo present: RACEBANNON (pictured) / BATTLESHIP / KADDISH / BLACK ARK
Racebannon: It's finally time for the fuck fright to shine over Scotland! Unhinged adventures in audio, starting with chaotic hardcore that shits over every single screamo band in existence and can only be gauged against the skills of Honeywell. That however is just the base materials involved, from the chaos they effortlessly shift to art damaged noise rock that makes wolf eyes seem as offensive as spice girls or cosmic space outs that could be the output of a martian godspeed you black emperor.   Existing since the 90's they have travelled from label to label never quite able to find someone to tame them. Witching Hour tried, Level Plane tried, Alone tried and Secretly Canadian really, really tried. The new album 'IV - Acid or Blood' is hopefully coming in time for this tour, who is going to suffer the release is uncharted as yet but you can bet it's gonna be someone as interesting as their previous labels. You can sample one of the new jawns on the myspace page. / Battleship: They are touring with the FUCK!FRIGHT! crew but all information has been deleted and covered up due to years of covert action and failed promises. A 12" came out and was out of print before the band could even start the tour to support it, the interest is intense. Disgustingly catchy punk rock that is as sassed out as it's spazzed out, twinges of le shok, arab on radar but perhaps most tellingly, carbomb. When a band can have you humming along instantly without the sickly taste of saccharine you know it's going to be sexual. / Kaddish: Technical crazy screaming from dundee maniacs. / Black Ark: Epic and thundering waves of rock from snowblood and santo caserio dudes

TIBI LUBIN (pictured) / MOUSE EAT MOUSE / BABY JANE
Dead bikinis litter the ground, nearly disinterested vocals crooning the Lou Reed lamentful doo-doo doo-doos as the shreds flutter to the sand. Tibi Lubin got colourful girls thing going on. Very excellent sound of a band playing in a gargantuan room, not actually bored singer on sofa on this wall, something happening almost out of earshot on the vibes over in that corner... "I Don't See You as a Dead Girl", you are alive and nestled in my heart forever after one song, electric blanket for the icier things in my heart. Easy, Tigre! 'Close your mouth, dear.' Sorry, was I gawping? Okay, I'll move on to Mouse Eat Mouse: Ivor Cutler did not die, but went to live on a farm to grow wheat with Don Van Vliet and the E-street band circa E-street shuffle, mair licht, I telt ye. I had tae, the taste wis aye sweet. I FUCKING LOVE YOU SCOTLAND, THIS ALL COMES SO EASILY WHEN YOU PLAY THIS WELL. Let us not forget Baby Jane, on the phone from the bar down the road urging us to come on over play some of that rolling r&b thing, tipping the hat back and some swamp vibe. Tronic presents: ACIDFAIRY (pictured) / SCOPEBOY (pictured) / DARKMODE
TRONIC is a monthly night dedicated to live electronic music. Based in Glasgow Scotland, our idea is to bring the best of the underground electronic scene together for one off live electronic performances. The styles are very eclectic within the 'Tronic' scene and we aim to cover the full spectrum of electronica, ranging from Techno, Ambient, Experimental, Breaks, Hardcore, Glitch, House & Electro. / Acidfairy is a self confessed acid junkie and her love for all things acid techno started naturally in the early 90’s which led to her taking up djing and soon to play along side the likes of Billy Nasty and Marco Bailey. Acidfairy’s performance and passion behind the decks has earned a strong underground following and even friendship with the mighty Carl Cox. A slot playing at Space in Ibiza, amongst numerous acid techno club nights in Glasgow and umpteen raves up and down the country, make up part of Acidfairy’s illustrious CV. After such highs and experiences, the decision was made to start writing and producing her own sounds, which could well be a type of musical career direction change, as new avenues into the live electronic world now await for this acid techno addict. ‘Drop Bass Network’ (USA) have now snapped up Acidfairy earlier this year, with future releases of her tracks and a few gigs in America to boot! All amazing stuff, but before Acidfairy’s relentless energetic sounds are unleashed over in the States, a special live performance in Glasgow is booked into the calendar first. We are well chuffed that Tronic are playing host to Acidfairy and are counting down the minutes to hearing the live acid techno 303 laden musical madness. A night not to be missed by those in the know. / Scopeboy: Friend and fellow ‘Tronic’ favourite Scopeboy certainly has been working hard of late, with a recent slot supporting ‘Le Petit Orb’ (Kompakt) at an impressive dance/electronica event in Glasgow’s CCA. It’s no surprise he was chosen to play such a gig, as Scopeboy’s enthusiasm for everything electronic is hard to ignore, along with his genuine enjoyment of having other people hear his music. Being a computer programmer and general electronics whiz by day, he still finds time to play bass guitar in a local band as well. For this musician however, time is spent best when creating electro-rock , trip hop style anthems. Always trying to mix different styles and sounds never sticking to one genre, expect much twiddling of his classic 303 during which crazy cartoon antics can be witnessed! / Darkmode: Based in Newcastle, Darkmode’s expansive electronic energy has been filtering through internet channels since he first started producing in 1998. Much hard work in the studio, has earned his latest EP release ‘Data’ a recent ‘Sureplayer’ award in DJ Magazine. Having a sound certainly influenced from the 80’s (LFO & Depeche Mode), but with a harder darker edge to his sound, Darkmode has released work under ‘Testin Out Records’, as well as having tracks grabbed by the likes of Radioactive Man for remix. A guest appearance on the dance stage at ‘Green Festival’ Newcastle will act as a warm up for this intimate venue appearance at Tronic. Expect the Darkemode journey north of the border to be a dark twisted 808 driven electro one, for which we can’t wait!

THE HEDRONS (pictured) / CRY OVER BILLIONAIRES / TEAM SALT
Team Salt are an intense acoustic band from Glasgow...once a three-piece, now a five-member band with drums and bass, intricate & overdriven guitars & juxtaposed harmonies. / If the music of The Hedrons were a place, it would be where you go to disrobe, have a moment of revelatory pause, and suddenly scream your guts out at the end of a long day. Co-mingling easily with the gritty wide-eyed beauty of The Slits, the strong steadiness of Joan Jett's orchestrated screams, and the revolutionary and raw hip factor of PJ Harvey, this rare outfit manages to confront all sides of your musical preferences head on. However youve approached it, The Hedrons will leave you completed, content, and fulfilled, no matter what youve set out for in the first place.
The Hedrons music is decidedly one part Ramones-esque brawn, one part femme-fatale roar, and one part ruthless guitar-driven nerve. Or as lead guitarist Rosie humorously puts it, If you listen to us, you wouldnt realise it was girls until Tippi starts singing you'd think it was a bunch of big hairy guys playing. And although the girls would personally describe their sound as the modern love child of the Foo Fighters and Joy Division, they would also say that the very same love child is proudly godfathered by Iggy Pop & The Stooges... You already know what I'm going to say about You Already Know. I sent a previous hairyogramme on this very topic. Kickflip nollie no fakie band to Axl pivot, a hefty dose of battered Vans in the bot I recall from a demo heard a while ago. The Banana Hammers - who gave me the idea for frozen fruit DIY?
