THE WHISKY WORKS (pictured) / GDANSK (pictured)
The Whisky Works was born during April 2005 in Glasgow, producing a raucous blend of guitar-driven noise and post-hardcore punk with a blistering live performance that has taken them on several local and national tours. With the release of their self-titled debut EP and an ever-increasing frequency of live shows, they have grounded themselves as serious contenders in the underground. With the release of their new EP "The Amish Are Coming", The Whisky Works are stronger than ever and with a UK tour planned for summer 2007, are more than ready to pour blood, sweat and tears across the map. The good thing is; the whisky works. / Gdansk fly the Weegie flag, and advocate singing lugubriously while putting the boot through the screen showing the dismal juxtaposing of economic prospects and life after the earthquake and collapsing to the sofa to gaze disgruntled at the lamp in the corner of the room instead. Or alternatively - "Gdansk are a 4-piece from Glasgow. They use guitars, bass, drums, keyboards & voices to create melodic, atmospheric, off-kilter pop songs on a grand scale."

54 Promotions Night: THE FEBRUARY SOLUTION / SECOND SKIN / DANA WALKER
The February Solution are a strange but unique band. Welding the most brutal metal and hardcore with a melodic and even melancholic sensibility too often lacking. Formidable as a live act, they manage to tear the stage apart as expected, while at the same time reaching for something beyond the narrow confines of their chosen genre. Bringing in such diverse influences as Textures, Mogwai and The Acacia Strain, the Febs are typical of the new attitude in the extreme end of metal, where the false walls that once existed between musicians are being torn down and a whole new sound is emerging. Creating music that is neither one thing or another, but something else entirely. Hailing from various suburban Ayrshire and Lanarkshire towns, The February Solution set upon their journey in November 2002 after meeting at college. Since then they have shared the stage with Hopesfall, Eden Maine, Khoma, Aconite thrill, The Hurt Process, Terra Diablo and The Abominable Iron Sloth. A successful tour of the UK in May 2006 was sponsored by UK Metal Underground, who had earlier made them Band of the week in February 06. 8:30pm / £free

Dicelines: MALICE / CUDDLY SHARK (pictured) / SECOND IN LINE / THE MISSING DEAD
Malice are a four-piece rock band from Glasgow. They take influences from 90s grunge, punk and the catchy riffs of Rage Against the Machine and Queens of the Stone Age to create a sound of their own. On CD they are tight, full of dynamics and exciting, each track containing something different from the one you listened to before. Live, they are almost in a class of their own. With heavy infectious riff-age, energetic performances and tight dynamics they are something to behold. Malice came together in the summer of 2001 but it took until 2003 to realise the potential they had. With the backing of Riverside Studios, and in particular owner and producer Duncan Cameron (Teenage Fanclub, Travis) the band developed their sound, and had critical acclaim and radio-play with their track Is It Me?, recorded under the watchful eye of Duncan himself. Since then the band have gone on to bigger and better things. With headlining slots at Glasgows Barfly, the Cathouse and Studio 24 in Edinburgh the band are on the rise, and with a recent support slot with Kerrang! endorsed classic rock act The Answer the band continue to head in the right direction. / Cuddly Shark are as original as they come! They play hard! they play loud! They do power chords everywhere (so not really that original) and most the time they play bad! They hail from the the north east of scotland now based in glasgow. They play songs that are fun to them and thats about it. Covered in influences but you'll know which ones when you hear the songs. Doors 9.00pm / £4

Moonshaker: THE PARANOID MONKEYS (pictured) / SOMEONES SONS (pictured) / KUNG FU
The Paranoid Monkeys: these Primates were drawn together through inter-planetary alignment and some strange longing to search for truth and compassion in the face of the evil warmongers and the reality of inevitable doom. Born in the English queen's Kingdom of Fife and destined to slavery to keep the rich, rich. They discovered a new way of life and discovered a voice by which they could spread word of the coming struggle and strife, kept seething by mans greed and obvious inherent madness. But the powers that be are strong and many and take on many guises by which to confuse and ultimately control the masses such as politicians, clergymen, media tycoons and entrepreneurs. They have vast armies of deluded action men yielding devastating weaponry, should force be required (and its always required). So how can they triumph in the face of such imperial forces? Who would want to care about the disturbing yet eye opening musical tales they may tell? They can only believe in their music and sheer determination and cling to the blind hope that the people will wake up to their chosen imprisonment and revolt from their keepers and truth and compassion will emerge./ "We are Someones Sons, an indie rock band from Clydebank, Glasgow. Formerly known as Freeway, we have been playing together for around 4 years but only as Someones Sons for almost two. We have played in many of Glasgow's well respected venues including King Tuts, QMU, Barfly etc. We have also played venues in Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Dundee, Manchester and we've travelled to play at a music festival in Holland. Early 2006 we saw the departure of our rhythm guitarist Si, which left Garry the opportunity to take on the guitar aswell as vocals. We've recorded an album... all of our own songs and since recording we've written lots of new material which we are now ready to record. " / Kung Fu started as a result of an accident to lead singer kenny mclaughlin.when he was knocked down by a car he realised that he was put on this earth for a reason-to form an amazing funk rock band. from that day on there has been no looking back. singer kenny, guitarist nick, bassist allan and drummer brendon produce a style of music that is not only unique but also uncompromising.

Glasgow Doom Section presents: BLACK SUN (pictured) / MARSHAN (pictured) / LSD / EL CHUPACABRAS
Bringing together some of the heaviest acts in the city, this inceptive Glasgow Doom Section gig is the place to be for down-tuned, riff-driven, bass-ridden heavyness with enough impetus to keep you shaking for days. Black Sun: Uncompromising. Brutal. Epic. Black Sun unharness a sound designed to pillage your senses and leave you ravaged but hungry for more. A superb live show is always guaranteed from a band which have devastating performances with such acts as Khanate, Church of Misery and High on Fire under their belts. / Marshan: Sheer mind-bending blues driven rock 'n' roll moulded from the streets of Glasgow itself. Just off the back of a US tour and supporting their latest release "Brought to you by the Goodtime Girls"; Marshan are a fantastic live act not to be missed, promising solid rock goodness and a great atmosphere every time. / LSD: Combining influences from Black Metal, Doom and Psychedelic Rock, LSD's sound is somewhere in between. By mixing tribalized rolling beats with stellar riffs, haunting melodies and hazy instrumental passages they create a sound ever changing and wholly their own. / El Chupacabras: Purveyors of ruthless sludge, the 'Cabras are a force to be reckoned with. Volcanic Tongue: THE SKATERS / TIGHT MEAT DUO / HEATHER LEIGH
The Skaters remain to be one of the most underground, elusive and best acts in the current explosion of experimental 'noise' music. The Skaters are the duo of James Ferraro and Spencer Clark from San Francisco. The music these two create is insane, they use percussion, fucked amps and sketchy guitars, but essentially the key to the sheer quality of The Skaters sound is their vocals. Totally weirded out looped voices, hyper and deranged. This makes The Skaters probably my favourite, and many others, 'noise' act right now. They recently played Thurston Moore's Nightmare Before Christmas ATP and have had records out on Humbug, Pseudo Arcana, and a bunch of self released stuff - be quick if you want any of these, as their material always goes out of print extremly fast! / Tight Meat Duo is the new duo of free drummer Alex Neilson and underground music's hardest working record shop owner David Keenan. Totally ecstatic free blurt for drums and saxaphone. Recently played for us before at The Furniture Makers to a superb reaction! New record has just been releases on Bo Weavil. / Heather Leigh Murray has spent years in underground music and worked with people such as Thurston Moore, Corsano and Matthew Bowyer as well as played in Charalambides, Ash Castles on the Ghost Coast and Scorces. Here solo performances are always as intesely beautiful as they are intensely heavy!

Predestination Records present: MANATEES / BOSSK / THE OCEAN FRACTURE (pictured)
Manatees was formed by three members of SecondtoLast, after the band left Lockjaw Records and split. Greg Wynne, Alex Macarte and Paul Heron abandoned the musical direction of their previous band, instead plummeting into a percussion focused prog-drone onslaught. Which is not to say they are a one trick pony; anyone who has heard their debut album or experienced the bands intense live show will testify to their incredible ability to keep the listener focused on the subtlest of changes, as well as simultaneously wielding moving, understated vocals and guitar melodies with explosions that truly live up to the 'wall of sound' cliché, so physical is their attack on the senses. The band cite many influences, from Neurosis, Swans and Pink Floyd, to Old Man Gloom, Boris and King Crimson, but never fall into the trap of replicating their idols, delivering a fresh, stunningly powerful sound. Manatees untitled debut album has gone on to receive near universally positive praise, including making Rocksounds top 75 albums of 2006 (Editor Darren Taylor described it as "one of the most ambitious albums of 2006"). / Bossk - "an awesome band that play with so much passion and love. Their sound is impossible to pin point but if you like big music with bucket loads of atmosphere then you will be moved by this band." extremely tasty post post rock! / Formed in early 2004, The Ocean Fracture have since been busy creating a buzz on the Scottish live scene and have played critically acclaimed shows with UK favourites Aconite Thrill, Midasuno, November Coming Fire and Eden Maine amongst others. The Ocean Fracture recorded their debut 5 track Mini Album, entitled "The Sunmachine and The Ocean" with Ben Phillips (The Guillaume Seam, Jairus, November Coming Fire) at City of Dis studios in Kent. THE GOOD ANNA / CARS (a drum duo!!) / NALLE
"Onwards to 'The Good Anna' from Nottingham who played on our festival last year and blew us all away with their power and finesse. This is a duo that combines technique (effortlessly) with the physical Grantham plays with his back Miles Davis style to the audience tonight, focusing on his amp and effects, but jerking and waving his guitar, always moving. And Porkbowl on the drums uses his whole body it seems to get the rhythms and cross rhythms pouring out in a wild, abandoned stream. I've been around, you know as Al Pacino said in 'Scent of a Woman' and I've heard some great drummers in the last year Denardo Coleman and Tony Oxley to name two world beaters (no pun intended) and this young guy is going to be a contender, mark my words. He reminds me a little of the free-jazz drummer Milford Graves in the ways that he uses his hands and other objects as well as sticks and brushes, pummeling, stroking, banging and paradiddling, elbows utilised to mute drum heads and alter timbres, feet up on them at times (interesting socks), at one point exploding whatever implement he was using a maracca or something similar (don't write in it's not that important) in a spectacular shower of dust - I was up front and am still coughing out the debris! Girdle seemed further back in the music than the last time I saw them but still contributed a fiery blaze of guitar that seems to cross from rock to free-jazz while maybe they are just playing Good Anna music screw the labels At times he had a high, squealing series of notes that reminded me of Pharoah Sanders when he used to play with Coltrane The audience were captivated throughout O.K this is 'difficult' music, but played with this intensity and vigour it proves that it can cut through to people prepared to listen". / "nalle play experimental music very well indeed. is this music?: DOWN THE TINY STEPS / SIXPEOPLEAWAY
"Down the Tiny Steps are a Glasgow-based folk-rock-electro-pop band. Songwriter, Jonnie Common records 24hours a day, hooked up to a phantom powered saline drip. He has written over 200 songs and is prepared to admit that at least 10 of them might be pish. Over the past 18months, DtTS have shared bills with King Creosote, My Latest Novel, F.O. Machete, Kid Carpet, and King Biscuit Time, to name but a few fine folks. They are currently recording their first studio album. In any one song Down the Tiny Steps could dip their feet in several styles, from acoustic folk-pop, suddenly veering into miserablist indie rock of the Interpol/Editors variety, occasionally sounding a little like the early, mechanistically rhythmic Elbow stuff, with all kind of electronic beats equally capable of rearing their heads as well. ATTICA RAGE / TEN TONNE DOZER (pictured) / + 1 more tba
The Attica Rage sound is a unique combination of four individual, experienced musicians. At the core lies the signature power-house double-bass drumming cemented by the thunderous, often-threatening, often-distorted bass guitar. A wall of thick, meaty rhythm guitars is layered on top with the bluesy, melodic and powerful lead vocals blasting through it all. Then there are the screamin' guitar solos full of technical brilliance and soulful moments. At the heart of the songs is essentially a love for The Big Riff, complete with catchy hooks and dominant melodies. Comparisons have been drawn to the likes of Black Label Society, Metallica and Corrosion of Conformity but there are many other bands that inspire them: Black Sabbath, Pantera, Iron Maiden, Ozzy, Type O Negative, Motorhead, The Almighty, Alice in Chains, Anthrax and many more have all played their part in shaping the sound and attitude of the band. / Ten Tonne Dozer ploughed it's way onto the Shetland music scene in late summer 2005. A 5-piece band with each member having many years of experience in the music arena with backgrounds from metal to blues, from rock to folk. Ten Tonne Dozer is one of the most laid back bands you'll come across with the lead guitarist motionless as he pines for the fjords during his intense guitar solos. The tunes are fast and furious, slow and bewildering, steady and mesmerising.
