HOW TO SWIM / WILLIE DICK GUESTS
How to Swim is the brainchild of writer and composer Gregor Barclay. Although known for their expansively orchestrated recorded work and a similarly maximalist approach to the idea of band size, the group is currently operating as a lean six-piece, comprising members of The Martial Arts and the now-defunct Mother and The Addicts. How to Swim have previously released on Electric Honey Records (Snow Patrol, Biffy Clyro) and Creeping Bent (POST, Isobel Campbell) to critical acclaim. Their forthcoming sophomore full-length, Niagarama, is a concept album of sorts, exploring the loss of youth and how we make sense of what replaces it. / Willie Dick - "a Scottish vagabond creating musical mayhem with contact mics, meat cleavers and a butchers block", £5 8.30pm

Iron Maiden Tribute: Musicians from across the Glasgow metal scene come together to bring a two-part tribute to the greatest band of all time, Iron Maiden. / Viking Galaxy: Power metal has never lacked for grandiose or epic lyrical themes, but never have the stories told been quite so profound as those told by Viking Galaxy, in their vocal/keyboard driven sagas of a band of Vikings, lost in space, raiding and pillaging for their very survival. / Disaster Area: Heavy rock, 80s NWOBHM and the finer, catchier and more ridiculously extravagant moments of the early Glam Metal scene combine into an overpoweringly, unstoppably fun set of fist-waving, lyric-roaring classic metal. / Menage a Trois: Insanely jammy psychedelic prog band Menage a Trois bring a specialised set of their usual ambient grooves and covers of classic hard rock and metal bound to start the night of on exactly the right jazzy chord. 8pm £2
THE ZIPS / THE DUGZ / SPLINTER / THE DREGGS
The Zips - Pacing the floor at Punk’s birth in the Seventies, splitting up as it was overtaken by Ska and New Romantics in the Eighties, and re-forming due to European bootleg interest in their back catalogue in the Noughties, Glasgow’s socio-politico-proto punk band The Zips, are keen to make up for lost time. With 5 new cd eps on their own Tenement Toons label, a download single for the Make Poverty History campaign on Oxfam’s (www.bignoisemusic.com) site, and tracks on numerous compilation cds, The Zips finally released their debut album, Guitars4Hire, Sept 06 – 27 years after their debut single! Copies of that single, The Zips ep, which received extensive airplay on the late-great John Peel Show, have fetched up to $427 on eBay, and it was listed as number 37 in the top 100 most collectable punk records, of all time, in Record Collector. On the back of that accolade, it was re-issued in the original 7” vinyl format, by Brooklyn-based label, Sing Sing Records / The Dugz began in the late 70's. Raw punk rock from Glasgow.
