Dicelines - THEOCEANFLOOR (pictured) / AMBER SOULS (pictured) / EXIT PILOT / CONSCIOUS PILOT (pictured)
Glasgow's troubadours of noir, theoceanfloor, offer the gentler side of darkness. With soul to soul lyrics & melodic vocals, their epic guitar tunes are more healing than bleeding. Their use of space & emotional colours within their songs gives them a haunting dreamy edge. With soaring orchestration you can't help but escape within yourself. theoceanfloor take you to a quieter, less alien world, where no one can reach you. Enjoy the silence" ... THE BIG ISSUE

Wiseguys in assoc. with Kolobos Dist. & IBD Records: VOMITORY / DESECRATION (pictured) / SCREAMIN' DAEMON (pictured) / MAN MUST DIE
Tonight's "My Little Pony" club meeting is entertained by four of the most appealing boy bands on the scene... heh... Vomitory regurgitate some sounds made familiar by Cannibal Corpse, throaty gurglings and cubed-carrot riffs hurtle by with a bad-pint-propelled compulsiveness. Chunderous rhythms spatter the eardrums also. That's enough, I am actually getting the boak now. Welsh brutalists Desecration disinter a favoured relative and do unseemly things to their remains. Screamin' Daemon aren't messing about either, despite their could-almost-be-comedy name. Their album "The Decline of The English Murder" contains songs which marry nursery rhyme tunes with brutal lyrics about some of the UK's most efficient maniacs - eg, "What shall we do with the evil doctor?" OK, they are really funny as well, but it's essentially deathgrind a-go-go. Don't know much about Man Must Die, but an educated guess would be that they'll be treating the "My Little Pony" Club members to Equus-inspired songs about equine mutilation. Then killing EVERYONE, in the WHOLE WORLD. About time, too.

Puny Human Promotions presents Metal Mayhem: CO-EXIST (pictured) / AMOK (pictured) / BLACKOUT / CARNAGE
Not dicking about with these Ronseal-styled names, are they? Slathered in filth, the metal continues to intrigue proctologists happening by the Notecave this evening. Co-Exist essay some of the grindiest metal available on the Scottish scene, with their catchily-titled album "Surgical Removal of the Teeth, Toenails and Drilling of the Kneecaps", which came out this July, setting a difficult to say harsher than that agenda they thrillingly manage to uphold throughout their pounding sets.Having two vocalists, one who drums, also helps. Co-Exist: "Scotland's finest grind caked metal band" 8/10 (Terrorizer). Amok do (studded) belting old-school metal, in the (gushing) vein of Slayer,Testament and their leathery ilk. Also featuring on tonight's bill we have Carnage, who offer an aural facsimile of that very noun. Synonyms include butchery, savage and excessive killing... For catharsis, you can't beat a bit of top quality metal (not strictly true, but you'd need to ask a none-more-blacksmith for a more accurate picture), and tonight's metallurgists bring on the pain with gleeful and chaotic abandon. Blackout are another band with their roots in old school thrash, but there’s also a decided hint of the modern to their sound. Successfully marrying the chugging aggression of early Metallica with the melodic tendencies of later years and a healthy dose of Pantera groove, these guys are an intriguing prospect to say the least (£4/3) doors 8.30pm.

BILLY NAYER SHOW
New York band with a proper work ethic, Billy Nayer Show have been making albums since 1994; the singer debuted a work of quietly sung and acted genius at the Sundance Film Festival in 2001, titled The American Astronaut - a musical space western. Battle Of The Bands Beyond The Stars? The sequel, perhaps. You'll have to make do with the extremely infectious pop nuggets delivered by three-piece-sweeties BNS tonight. Described variously as slinky, angular, rough, raw and refined, BNS call to mind a splendid and necessary melding of musicians Kurt Weill, Neil Young and Frank Zappa - via San Francisco avant-experimentalism and New York tough cookieness. I'll have some of that!

ROSE KEMP (pictured) / SJ ESAU / REDSUN (pictured)
Rose Kemp: An impossibly rich & reaching voice, laden with centuries of English tradition, that either combines with shimmering electric guitars, or else loops itself into wicked multi-part harmony hooks, or perhaps just soars solo, needing no augmentation to embed itself in your brain. These are the sets & songs that have earned this 20 yr old slots at umpteen festivals, National Radio airplay, & support slots with the likes of Gravenhurst, James Yorkston, King Creosote, Seth Lakeman & Duke Special. Once you’ve heard her you’ll never forget it, her songs stick in your soul and pulse in your head like nothing else on earth. Rose Kemp will rock your World. "Stunning stuff." HEAD HUNG LOW / RISE WITH THE FALLEN
Brutal Uncompromising Hardcore Metal from Nottingham, England. Head Hung Low formed back in 2002 & have worked hard at getting established on the UK underground scene. Relentless touring throughout the UK on the back of compilation releases hooked them up with Psychophonic Records. In Nov 2004 their debut album "Audio Killing Spree" was released earning the band many excellent reviews. The band pool influences from many different areas of metal, hardcore, punk & grindcore but always drive for energy & power whilst songs develop an interesting journey through many timing changes as a backdrop. Comparisons are often made to Morbid Angel, Killswitch Engage, Slayer, Chimaira, Death, Extreme Noise Terror. The DIY ethic in the band sees them self sufficient in everything with guitarist/vocalist Darren Jackson doing all the bands artwork, recording & producing. Following Audio Killing Spree's release, the band decided at the beginning of 2005 to draft in a vocalist (Rob Law) to free Darren up to just guitar duties live. The effect was incredible & new songs were being recorded for a follow up release using Darren's new Pro Tools recording software. However, after 5 months & some great shows around the country, Rob amicably called it a day. The follow up to Audio Killing Spree, "All Under these wings shall fall", scheduled for release by late 2005 will be finished now the band has aquired the services of former Red Shift frontman Al, who's vocal range will add a new layer of energy to live performances & unarguably to the recording project.

Wiseguys present: 'Massacre' : DEADEYE / ATTICA RAGE / HELLHOUSE / ANTIFAITH
Pantera's guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott was shot and killed last year while on stage. So many rock deaths are described as tragic, but pointless slayings with firearms particularly qualify. Tonight's show takes a look at what made DD & his various bands, in particular Pantera, mean so much to people - as one former bit of downstairs grafitti at the Note read, "fuck the future, live in the Pant-era". It's also a chance for four of the hottest metal acts extant to show us how his influence continues to stimulate, inspire and keep rocking in the face of a sometimes senselessly stupid and violent world. So we have Deadeye, coming from Northampton with a "loud bastards" reputation; local types Attica Rage, making one of Scotland's most clangy metal sounds, feted far & wide for well heavy groove-driven live performances; Hellhouse, whose Mortal Kombat meets Anton LaVey website contains this genius bit of blurb: "... see guitars shred beyond belief, drums rip like juggernaught jack knives and glorious howls to curdle the thickest of bloods!" Sort of nonsense I come out with... And last in this bit of blurb, Antifaith, who as well as the common thread of Pantera cite Testament, Randy Rhodes and Sir Eddie Van Halen as principle ikons. Yes! This will be a good night of music and mayhem - respect due to DD.

Black humor, deafening drums & sinister guitar flexes are the order of the day

The usual blend of electronica & topicana from the bozilla team featuring guests: Hoboken, a 4-piece Glasgow-based group who combine inspired electronica influenced by the likes of Sparks, Georgio Morodor & Depeche Mode with the drama & romance of Scott Walker & Jacque Brel, to produce dark yet uplifting songs about love, sex & death. Formed in '01, Hoboken released their first single, Hotel Lisboa, in July '03, & followed it up with their second single, Vainglorious, in November of the same year. Both received rave reviews.
